Life on the Injured Reserve…
In a few hours, I went from thinking I was going to be exceptionally well prepared for the Tour of Colorado, to a two night and two day stay in the St....
What I Did On My Summer Vacation…
The first thing I remember following my crash on Stage 7 of the Tour de France was sitting in the hospital bed, talking to the team doctor. The only problem was, it was the NEXT morning! I was mid-sentence in my conversation with Dag when I finally became conscious of where I was and what was going on. Before that, whatever conversation we had had, whether it was after the race, on the way to the hospital, or even in the hospital, I don’t remember having. Who Dag was talking to all that time, I don’t really know, but he said the guy sounded and acted just like me, st...
TdF Stage Six - Riding in the Rain...
Last night’s dinner, following the crazy stage, had quite a bit of story telling, with each of my RadioShack teammates telling their version of how the stage unfolded from their perspective. It was very interesting how each of the stories were so different from one another, yet somehow we all started and finished in the exact same place! Johan even had some crazy stories from the perspective of the car....
TdF Stage Five - An Epic Crash Fest!
Today’s stage of the Tour de France started easy and then went straight to insanity! With the course staying along the coast for second half of the race and the roads not even wide enough to allow two cars to pass each at the same time, it was a recipe for disaster that was sure to wreck havoc on all the teams. Before all the chaos began, though, I was starting to wonder if I was really at the Tour! Once again, the break got away without much an effort, and the field shut down. But for once, the calm didn't last long!...
TdF Stage Four - Cutting it Close!
I'm skipping the blog for stage 3 or else I will never get caught up before the Tour ends at this rate! But I want say a special congrats to Tyler Farrar for an impressive and well-deserved win yesterday!...
TdF Stage Two - TTT Time!
The second stage of this year’s Tour de France was a team time trial. We knew it was going to be an important step in the GC battle, so the entire RadioShack team arrived on the Tuesday before the TdF started in order to see the TTT and decide the order of team rotation and equipment we would use for the day of the race....
TdF Stage One - Finally On Our Way!
The Tour has finally started! As a bike racer, the entire year seems to be focused on the Tour. For me, the first 11 months since the last Tour De France seemed to fly by, but the last month felt like it took forever. But, we’re finally all here!...
ToC Stage 8 - The End...
Amgen Tour of California Recap:
RadioShack Came.
RadioShack Saw.
RadioShack Conquered!...
ToC Stage 7 – Queen Stage
Today’s stage started off just as we knew it would, with the Garmin boys going on the attack. They did a great job of putting on a show all day long, with two riders in the break, both of which were a serious threat for the overall lead. The RadioShack boys had their work cut out for them, but we also got a lot of help from Trek-Leopard, who of course were looking for a stage win in the Amgen Tour of California. The break got no more than two minutes ahead of the chasing field, as we knew with a shorter stage, the chances of giving a large break any more time than that wou...
